You can export all of the content you’ve created for your blog, and we’ll package it up into a convenient ZIP file for you to download your blog backup. It’s possible to export your primary blog and secondary blogs as well, although each blog export will need to be run separately.

To start the process to export your blog’s content, navigate to your account settings on the web:

Initiating and downloading blog exports is only available on the web. It is not currently a feature in the apps.

When your blog’s content is finished collecting, the processing message will be replaced with a “Download backup” button. Click this button to download a ZIP file of your blog’s exported contents. Underneath the “Download backup” button, you will also see another “Export [blog name]” button for generating a new blog export.

You will also receive an email from Tumblr, notifying you that the backup has been completed. If you’re exporting a group blog, please note that only Admins will be notified of its completion.

If you want to export the contents of more than one of your blogs, you’ll need to initiate this process separately for each blog.

Note that your blog backup may take some time to process. Check back on your blog’s settings page periodically to see if it has completed.

It’s not possible to export your blog as a PDF or any other file format besides what is stated above.

Importing content to Tumblr

It’s not currently possible to import content from other platforms into Tumblr blogs, or to import content from one Tumblr blog to another.
