Midnight blue bolero-style jacket, with peplum, ca. 1870. Silk velvet heavily decorated in metallic gold cord and sequins in an ethnic style. Lace-trimmed sleeves and silk lining. Purportedly bought from House of Worth as fancy dress.
Pirpiri, a woman’s coat embellished with terzidiko (gold braid) embroidery on wool felt. Crowned double-headed eagles appear among the foliate themes of the decoration. From Ioannina in Epiros. 19th c. H. 1.23 m. (EΕ 1637) (Ottoman era)
