Harvest Basket -Handwoven Reclaimed Crab Pot Rope Basket

Our Harvest Basket is made to order and is handwoven from reclaimed crab pot rope. Perfect for holding your fresh picked veggies and fruits, or easy to take mushroom hunting. This rope dries quickly and you can easily rinse your harvest while it's held in this basket. This is a very sturdy basket with a strong handle. The Harvest Basket is 19" wide X 5-6" deep. Examples of this look are pictured. We have an abundance of rope in shades of aqua blue, grey, white, and some orange and yellow to highlight. In most cases we can duplicate any of these examples. You choose the colors you'd like or we can choose for you. We can make this in any color you see here, or featured in any product anywhere on our Etsy Page as long as we have it in stock. If you want us to choose for you, we are happy to provide pictures before we ship or deliver. This Sea Basket is hand woven out of rope which has been sourced directly from our local fishermen. The rope itself has beautifully distinctive characteristic marks from its time spent in the ocean. The rusty marks come from the crab fishing and rope storage process. We like to preserve as much of the history of the rope's fishing usefulness as possible. Look carefully and you will find knots, rope splices, loops and more, woven directly into this basket. How does Crab Pot Rope become a Sea Basket? The rope, having spent considerable time in the ocean cavorting with all manner of sea life, has acquired unique beauty markings and an ocean of wisdom. After it has been untangled, inspected and organized the fun begins. Colors are carefully chosen and we personally hand weave each basket. Why do you name the Sea Baskets? We honor the rope as a spirited being. It comes to us after already having had a full life of service hauling crab up out of the ocean. There is an alchemy that is happening with each basket I weave ... a piece of rope and a man becoming something new together. I am helping the rope extend its usefulness and the rope is helping me express the hidden artist that lives in my heart. During the weaving process this ocean rope really comes alive and begins to exhibit a new one-of-a-kind personality. Given that this basket will serve beautifully for decades to come in its new form, it seems only right to pause and listen for its name upon completion. Each basket's name is then handwritten on an attached tag. Now they are ready to head out into the world and be properly introduced to the people who will adopt them into their life.
