Avondale Lake, Avon IL I first went down "the big slide" in 1946, making the slide at least 63 years old. All the parts look original. We called this the big slide because it was so high compared with the nearby small slide. Judging from the 16 ladder steps, the height to the slide platform is about 15 ft.
