We are pleased to announce the promotion of Dr. Job Makoyo to the position of Country Director at Jacaranda Health. Job transitions from his previous role as Deputy Country Director, a position he held for little over a year, providing technical expertise to our programs and driving our strategic objectives with our government partners.
In his new role, Dr. Job will continue to provide leadership in driving our programmatic and health system strengthening priorities, while fostering collaboration and engagement with our in-country government partners, donors and partners.
In Kenya, Jacaranda continues to work with our national government and county government partners to promote sustainable integration of our affordable and scalable solutions into government systems, with a shared goal to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes.
I am excited about this new role and the opportunities it offers to reach more mothers across Kenya through our PROMPTS platform. My focus will be on delivering greater value, listening to feedback, and collaborating with county partners to improve the health system. With over 17 years of experience in Public Health, Dr. Job brings onboard a wealth of knowledge, expertise and seasoned leadership to this role.
Trained as a medical doctor from the University of Nairobi, Dr. Job has evolved into an amorphous doctor who is passionate about Public Health. His career began in the public health sector as a medical doctor, and evolved into more technical roles in the private sector and NGO sector over the last eleven years.
One pivotal moment in his career that shaped his career trajectory in maternal health was when he was working as a medical doctor in Dadaab medical camp. This experience ignited his passion for sexual and reproductive health rights for women and girls, reshaping his understanding and contribution to healthcare systems in Kenya. He experienced first-hand the complexities of our public health system structures and why it’s important to have a non-linear perspective when thinking about improving health systems infrastructures which are guided by the evolving needs of communities.

Dr. Job is deeply passionate about driving inclusivity and community-level programmatic implementation especially in how mums’ experience our AI-enabled SMS service PROMPTS, and the role Jacaranda plays in improving efficiencies in the entire public health systems in Kenya. One of the key programmatic areas he will continue to support is on how we collect feedback from our mums, share with our government partners and monitor improvements in the quality of care services at our public hospitals.
As he takes on this new role, Dr. Job is eager to continue fostering our relationship with our government partners, while leading our ambitious goal to champion access to quality of healthcare for all mothers in Kenya.
