Nepal is home to some of the world’s most remote communities, where access to timely and quality maternal health care can be a challenge. In August of this year, we secured a partnership with One Heart Worldwide (OHW), a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving maternal and neonatal health in underserved communities across Nepal. This collaboration aims to explore the use of our SMS-based digital health tool, PROMPTS, as an accessible, scalable solution to assist Nepali mothers during their pregnancy journey.

We plan to pilot PROMPTS with 25,000 mothers in two OHW-served districts, Jajarkot and Dailekh. With a successful pilot, this partnership could expand to support hundreds of thousands of women in OHW-supported districts throughout some of Nepal’s more remote rural areas over the coming years.

Like our work in Kenya, Ghana, and Nigeria, we’ll adapt PROMPTS for the local Nepali context, with messages tailored to address specific challenges pregnant women face in rural Nepal. By providing health information in local languages, we aim to empower women with knowledge about prenatal care, help them navigate myths and misconceptions, and deliver reminders for health appointments.

In close collaboration with OHW, we are excited to take this first step in scaling personalized mHealth support for mothers and babies in Nepal. We hope to drive a meaningful impact in some of the country’s most underserved communities.
