This photo comes from an out of print book on Mexican folk art that was published in 1971.  The woman in the photo is a Nahua from the region of San Pedro Coyutla in the state of Veracruz Mexico.  She is wearing a kind of prehispanic cape known as a quechquemitl Ancient Mexico, Mexican People, Shoulder Cape, Mexican Fashion, Mexican Embroidery, Mexican Outfit, Indigenous Americans, Mexican Culture, Print Book

This photo comes from an out of print book on Mexican folk art that was published in 1971. The woman in the photo is a Nahua from the region of San Pedro Coyutla in the state of Veracruz Mexico. She is wearing a kind of prehispanic cape known as a quechquemitl. I had the great pleasure to visit San Pedro Coyutla on Dec 30, 2009 and met some of the talented weavers of this lovely town. I was also able to purchase a quechquemitl almost identical to the one worn by the woman in this photo
