The fire control system, or simply fire control, was a major component of the automated weapons system aboard Constitution-class starship that controlled the ship's phasers and photon torpedoes.

After Captain James T. Kirk issued General Order 24 against Eminiar VII to Lieutenant Commander Montgomery Scott aboard the USS Enterprise, Scott prepared the ship for an orbital bombardment, where he issued a warning to all Eminians that "all cities and installations on [the planet] have been located, identified, and fed into our fire-control system," and that "in one hour and forty five minutes the entire inhabited surface of [the] planet will be destroyed." (TOS: "A Taste of Armageddon")

When the Enterprise came under attack by an Orion scout ship, Ensign Pavel Chekov informed Captain Kirk that "fire control locked into the computers, Captain." With that information, Kirk prepared Chekov to, "On my order, fire photon torpedoes two, four and six. Widest possible scatter." (TOS: "Journey to Babel")

Later that year, when the M-5 multitronic unit began drawing "more and more power directly from the warp engines" of the Enterprise during the war games of 2268, Spock and Doctor Leonard McCoy notified Captain James T. Kirk that "the computer now controls all helm, navigation, and engineering functions," as well as "communications and fire control." (TOS: "The Ultimate Computer")
