Star Trek is a two/three-disc "special/collector's edition" Blu-ray Disc release of Star Trek. The release includes a digital copy of the film for use on PCs and portable devices. The cover has so-called "augmented reality" features – the use of a webcam presents a three-dimensional holographic tour of the USS Enterprise.
Remarkably, this edition was released a year prior to the single-disc basic, "vanilla" release, which constituted a break with franchise tradition – predominantly employed for the DVD format – as this had until then the other way around for the previous Star Trek films, Star Trek: The Motion Picture excepted.
While still being marketed as region-restricted, this release was actuality confirmed, as one of the very first ones where Star Trek was concerned, to be already region-free before this had increasingly become commonplace for the Blu-ray format. [2](X)

- ↑ Initially released on 10 November 2009, the Russian Region C two-disc version from Noviy Disk came in two release variants, the standard two-disc Blu-ray version, followed on 25 March 2019 by the "limited edition" with its five collectible cards and exclusive booklet. [1] The latter became shortly thereafter collected in May in the limited "special edition" box release along with the "limited editions" of the other two alternate reality films.
