Created by the workshop of Mexican artists Jacobo and María Ángeles, these brightly colored and richly patterned artworks depict imaginary hybrid creatures inspired by Zapotec astrology. Indigenous to southern Mexico, Zapotec culture is deeply connected to plants, seasons, and animals; for many Zapotec people, special animals called tonas and nahuales act as spiritual companions or guides. Encounter monumental sculptures depicting these animal spirit guides as you explore the gardens, and discover your own connections to the spirit of nature.
