Liz Y Ahmet is a UK-based, self-taught artist who creates portraits of women from hundreds of scribbled lines. What looks chaotic and even a little bit messy at first glance, with the talented hands and creative mind of this contemporary artist, emerges into perfectly detailed, expressive, and dynamic portraits. It's amazing how looping and scattered lines we used to draw as children can convey such strong emotions.

Janne Kearney is an artist based in Geelong, Victoria, Australia. Janne explains her work by saying, “I am Predominately a figurative and portrait artist, my paintings ask the viewer to disregard preconceived perceptions of people, society and at times reality. Bodywork is a series of paintings of real life tattooed people. The works are full of texture and color created in a contemporary realist manner and could be described as iconoclastic…they challenge or overturn traditional beliefs…

I started this portrait as a class demonstration, in order to let the students understand the color in a colouered light source condition. As for this portrait, it made more complex and fun with it's light source from the bottom and the texture on the mordel. Here is just a small selection of the mixed media self portraits produced by last years Year 7 in the Summer Term. The theme was 'Split Personality' and the pupils produced a portrait consisting of four different mediums (acrylic, pencil, fine-liner and collage). They also wrote in the background of two of the sections. The writing in pencil was that students' dislikes, whilst the writing in fine-liner was their loves.
