Here is a wonderful Victorian era gold fill or rolled gold plated oval locket. The piece has an applied embossed triangular shaped leaf at the center, with a green gold tint, stippled detail on the surface and a rosy gold stem. The piece is bordered by a slim gold border, with an Etruscan style wire and bead border around the outer edge. The locket is finished with a large kite shaped bail with a wire and bead anchor decorating the front, and an S-shaped soldered wire connecting the piece to the locket. The piece will accommodate a chain measuring up to 4.5 mm. The hinge is in fine condition, and the locket opens easily with the aid of two tabs on the side. The back of the piece has wear to the finish from years of touch, though it is still lovely. The interior of the locket is complete with the original glass and bezels, as well as what appear to be 1960s vintage photos of 2 children. I have not found any makers marks on the piece, but it is well made and in very good vintage condition. It is a wonderful locket for anyone who loves Victorian era jewelry, and it would make a fine gift for a gardener, mother or sweetheart.
