✨DETAILS✨🔽 ★ This dazzling double pendant necklace is handmade with a real Morpho Peleides butterfly wing paired with a silver-dipped quartz crystal point! The top portion of this double pendant is made from a real Morpho Peleides butterfly wing embedded under magnified glass and set in antique silver. (Please read below for more on how I ethically obtain the butterfly wings!) The entire pendant measures approx. 2.5" long x 1.2" wide. Your choice of short 18" chain or long 30" chain in your choice of regular silver tone metal or an upgrade to .925 Sterling Silver. The Emperor Morpho Butterfly, also known as the "Morpho Peleides" is part of the "Blue Morpho" family and originates from Paraguay. The wings are a brilliant shimmering light blue with black edges. The color in the butterfly's wings is caused by the diffraction of the light from millions of tiny scales on its wings. It uses this to frighten away predators, by flashing its wings rapidly. The Emperor Morpho lives in the rainforest and drinks the juices from tropical fruit such as mango and kiwi. Each piece will arrive in a custom gift bag, ready to gift or keep, with literature on the species of butterfly and a free die-cut sticker or magnet! *NOTE* No Butterflies are harmed in the making of my jewelry! All butterflies are raised on butterfly farms and sanctuaries and allowed to live their full lifespan, which averages about 1 month, and then collected and sold so that their beauty can live on! Butterfly Farming actually helps to preserve rain forests and also assures the survival of natural butterfly habitats. Native people are encouraged to grow plants and raise insects opposed to clearing land for cash crops. I am a member of and donate to the Rainforest Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the Rainforest and the many species that live within it, including the Blue Morpho Butterfly!
