Solid cherry bookshelves, custom length floating shelf with brackets

These wall-mounted cherry shelves are handcrafted from a solid slab of cherry with a classic molded edge. We finish them using a simple oil and our natural aging process that ripens the wood to a rich tone without using any tinted stains or products. At over an inch thick and 8.5 inches deep, our heavy-duty shelves are the perfect choice for larger living spaces. You can select any length from between two to seven feet for each individual shelf and combine them for a more varied look. (The shorter shelves pictured above are each 48 inches long and the longer shelf is 72 inches long.) The shelves come with beautiful, curved solid cherry brackets that can sustain a weight of at least 40 pounds per bracket. These brackets should be placed every 48 inches or less and must be installed directly into the wood studs of your wall using the bolts provided. Our craftsman, Steve, first designed these shelves to display his wife's beautiful books in their living room. Soon he found himself shaping more for us and other family members who wanted his shelves for our own living spaces. Speaking from personal experience, we can say that these shelves are one of our favorite things about our home. Besides Steve's skill in shaping the wood and brackets, what makes these shelves special is the wood itself. The cherry we use comes from the Allegheny plateau in Pennsylvania, which is known for producing the finest cherry anywhere. The rich color you see in the photos is completely natural. In one month, our natural aging process ripens the wood to the gorgeous tone it would have taken years to achieve on its own. Since the shelves aren't artificially stained, an accidental scratch wouldn't show a different color underneath; instead, with time the scratch would darken to match the rest of the piece. As you can see in the photos, the color will vary depending on the lighting in your home. Also, as each shelf is unique, you should expect the grain and color to be slightly different than what is pictured above. Our processing time can take between two and three weeks because each piece must be made to custom dimensions and undergo the aging and oil finishing process before we can ship it out. But feel free to message us if you'd like a more precise estimate or you need to receive your shelf sooner. Note: the overhang on the sides will vary depending on the length of your shelf in comparison to the spacing of your wall studs. 24" - 60" shelves come with two brackets, while 61" - 84" shelves come with three brackets. Additional brackets may be purchased if desired.
