This week, we wrapped up the gift donations for Be the Joy at The Warehouse, collecting new presents for families supported by Women's Refuge! The gifts have been collected and will be under trees in time for Christmas. 🎄 New Zealanders donating funds to #BeTheJoy have given more than $250,000 to support Women's Refuge, the Kindness Collective, Variety - the Children's Charity, and the Salvation Army as they bring Christmas joy to Kiwi kids in need nationwide. Fundraising continues right up to Christmas Eve, so it's not too late to donate. (Or to give again if you're feeling particularly Christmassy!) Simply donate $2 at checkout when you shop at The Warehouse, Warehouse Stationery, or Noel Leeming up till closing time on December 24. ❤️💙💛 You can also donate when you shop online at The Warehouse: https://lnkd.in/gu7PjghW 💻 We're blown away by the generosity of Kiwi customers shopping with us, so proud of our teams for making it easy to donate, and grateful for all our charity partners do. Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou katoa - thank you all so much. ✨ Kindness Collective Foundation, Variety New Zealand, The Salvation Army New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga & Samoa, National Collective of Independent Women's Refuges

  • 🥫🥦 The rising demand for food support is placing unprecedented pressure on foodbanks across New Zealand. In a recent RNZ article, our Food Security Manager, Sonya Cameron, shares insights into the challenges foodbanks face as more whānau turn to organisations like The Salvation Army for help. Changes to the government’s food hardship grant approach is leaving many without support, with referrals then made to foodbanks to meet basic needs.   At The Salvation Army, we’re seeing the impact of this shift firsthand. Through initiatives like Te Kai Mākona, we’re not only providing food but empowering whānau with choice and dignity in their food journeys.   This is a call for collective action—whether through donations, partnerships, or advocacy—to address the growing food insecurity in our communities. Together, we can make a difference. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eBx-FJVJ

  • 🏠A Safe Haven for Youth in Samabula, Fiji We are excited to announce the opening of a new shelter for street boys in Samabula, Fiji. This initiative is part of the Fiji Government’s greater Lesu Ki Vale taskforce, in partnership with the Salvation Army’s Kauwai Youth Restoration Service, aimed at providing care and support for at-risk children. This shelter is more than just a roof over their heads—it’s a space of hope, belonging, and opportunity. With access to education, skill-building, and emotional support, these boys are empowered to transform their lives and build a brighter future. Territorial Leaders Julie & Mark Campbell, accompanied by Chief Secretary Gerry Walker visited the shelter last week. Thank you to our dedicated team for making this a reality. Together, we are creating lasting change for our communities. https://lnkd.in/g897XqMw

  • We recently hosted a tailored training day, bringing insights from the Global Leadership Summit right here to our team—and what a day it was! We explored key themes around leadership, risk taking, hospitality, storytelling, and even the science of happiness, thanks to an incredible lineup of speakers: ⛰️ Craig Groeschel opened the summit by giving us permission to obsess, because if you don't obsess about something, you'll never be great at anything. ⛰️ Amy Edmondson unpacked how intelligent failure is an important part of progress, and provided a framework to help decide on the right kinds of failure. ⛰️ Will Guidara inspired us with lessons on world-class hospitality. ⛰️ Kindra Hall showed us how to harness the power of stories in our work. ⛰️ Molly Fletcher shared her insights on high performance, drawing from her experience as a top sports agent. ⛰️ Dr Krish Kandiah challenged us to think about our reputation, and in particular, the values we would want to be remembered for. ⛰️ Erwin McManus explained the seven frequencies of communication, and we had fun trying to put our family members into the various frequencies. ⛰️ Arthur C. Brooks finished the day proving us with insights and habits to help us become happier in what he describes as an unhappy world. Thank you to everyone who participated, engaged, and shared their takeaways throughout the day. It’s always inspiring to see how ideas like these spark meaningful conversations and fresh thinking for our work.

  • A big thank you to Tegel Foods Ltd for their generous donation of 2,000 chickens to The Salvation Army this Christmas season! This support will help us bring a little extra joy and nourishment to many whānau in Aotearoa New Zealand. As our team works to distribute these chickens, we’re grateful for partners like Tegel, whose kindness allows us to reach even more communities and make the season brighter.   Together, we’re making a difference, one meal at a time. Thank you, Tegel, for helping us support Kiwis in need.
