Performing Balanchine’s “Jewels” in London, the Bolshoi Ballet featured Olga Smirnova, a 21-year-old dancer of rare gifts, in the “Diamonds” section.

I wanted to further explore my anatomical knowledge with this piece. The process for this drawing involved using an image of a ballerina and emphasizing her skeletal landmarks on an overlay layer to render what a full skeleton might look like in the same position. Another layer is used to describe the most prominent points of interest in the body. Image rights go to the original photographer, the picture is not mine.
