When I visited Cuzco and Machu Pichu I searched the backroads of Cuzco looking for Colonial style Peruvian silverwork to use in jewelry designs. After a week, I found a shop, hidden away on a side street. The owner brought out boxes of old stock for me to choose pieces from. The Peruvians love birds, baskets, mermaids and many other sweet motifs.
