A large oval gold mounted cameo of unusual composition. The yellow gold casing is excellent, made in the traditional style with the form following the shape of the shell. It is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1975 . Goldsmiths mark could be RS but it is all rather small. Edged in gold wirework. The cameo is very finely carved & probably Italian. It is possibly older than the gold frame which has been made to fit. An unusual composition which looks to be based on a print by Raphael. The size is 2.2 by 1.7 inch so it is an impressive size and weighs 13.6 gms
