"Morris Chair", an adjustable back chair designed by Philip Webb for Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co., 1866. The design features a reclining back & moderately high armrests. The characteristic feature is a hinged back, with the reclining angle adjusted through a row of pegs, holes or notches in the arms. The original "Morris Chairs (pictured) had dark stained woodwork, turned spindles & heavily decorated upholstery.
