In my greenhouse, I leave the pots exposed, but indoors in the house, I slip them in ceramic pots for aesthetic purposes.   A great time to repot is after your orchid has finished blooming. In this case in my reel, this plant did not bloom unlike most of my other Phalaenopsis orchids at the time of publishing this reel, so now is a great time because days are getting longer and plants are waking up and getting ready to start to grow new leaves and roots. Orchids are sensitive plants and get dehydrated fast, so if you:
1. Gently unpot your orchid, rinse the roots, and prune any dead roots off.
2. Then, depending on how far gone your child is, cut off the bloom stem - so the plant doesn’t divert all its energy to flowering.
3. Then, start the soaking method. Soak the roots in black tea for 10 mins with filtered or bottled water…that’ll be a little nutrition boost before the real soaking method.
4. Since It won’t be ready to live in water full-time just yet, youll need to introduce a system for the orchid that alternates soaking the roots in water during the day and drying the roots completely overnight - to fight against root rot.
