Stacking stones

Stacked stones along a stream at one fo the many stops within Kootenay National Park, British Columbia (BC), Canada.

Makes me want to go pile some rocks on top of each other. They're called cairns.

While on a shoot for San Francisco magazine last weekend in Sausalito, I got to see Bill Dan construct some of his rock balancing sculptures. As you might guess, incredible amounts of patience and perseverance are involved in assembling one of these, and it's quite amazing that he can do it so well with so many people like me all around him taking photos and watching. www.navidbaraty.com

I decided to take half an hour out to meditate between work/lunch/dentist. I have bowls of stones collected from different places and these are the most difficult to balance - probably to do with the weight and size because they were collected for aesthetic not balance-ability reasons. This is one of my favourite forms of meditation . . .
