Starter locs on permed hair

My hair grew out nicely. I thought i was ready for starter locks so put two-strand twists in my hair and cut off the perm. I figured that it would be easier to cut off the perm with my hair already twisted. I also thought that it would be easier than trying to twist my hair when it was shorter for starter locs.
