Neoclassical American 3: Neoclassical American architecture came and brought along with it the string course. The string course consisted of a brick pattern that added ornamentation to the exterior of the homes, but also located the second floor from the homes exterior. The patterns could be basic or ornate. The string course was more often than not just the same material as the surrounding parts of the exterior of the home.
