Now I stick to a few of each variety and grow more of them. Start any seeds 4-6 weeks before last frost— I learnt this one the hard way but with a short season, starting seeds 4-6 weeks before my last frost date leaves no space for failure. If I have terrible germination rates with a certain flower, it never gives me enough time to try again. I now start them 6-8 weeks before my last frost.
