While they can be great for extra storage or living space if finished, we knew it wasn’t something we wanted or would use often. There’s always the issue of water as well, and in our area flooding isn’t uncommon. Why you should consider a single level home: - Cost: building a slab on grade foundation saved us 10s of thousands of dollars by using EZ Mono forms and skipping the basement/4 foot frost wall. - Ease of access: everything we need is on the same level. No stairs to have to haul laundry up and down, carry kids to bed, grandparents to trip on or toddlers to fall down. - Resale value: Slab on grade single story homes are becoming increasingly more popular and have a much wider market to sell too.
