A petite buttercup, or Belcher setting from Victorian times. The ring is 10K with a sparkly Swiss cut diamond. The Belcher mounting was first created by American Thomas Belcher in the late 1800s. His novel setting allowed the stone to complete a smooth band design without prongs. Between the gold "prongs" that radiate from the diamond, are etched areas decorated with small scrolls and swirls in the Victorian fashion which adds delicacy to the overall design.
