"Traina - Norell Styles Exclusive with I. Magnin & Co. shop" Norman Norell worked for Hattie Carnegie until 1940 and collaborated with financial backer Anthony Traina from 1947 to 1960. Norell was known as the pioneer and father of American High Fashion. I believe this suit is the only early 1950's clothing item of Norman Norell's design on the internet. His early items are almost unheard of. Skirt is 26 1/2" waist, 38" hips, 30" length. * an early 50's silhouette in medium dark gray wool. This suit is fully lined in silk taffeta and is a winter suit, heavy and warm. * the suit is tailored with precision: the seams are perfect. * double breasted look, very masculine - only one side fastens * jacket hem comes down to a slight point in front, like a corset * skirt is flared and slightly full at the hem * side metal zipper and button * jacket is lined in ivory silk taffeta, skirt is lined in black silk taffeta C o n d i t i o n : outer is in excellent lightly worn condition, jacket lining at each underarm has at least one or two small holes, see photo.
