These bright teal Ethiopian opal rondelles are between 4.5mm and 5mm in size. They have all colors in the play of color, but not all beads have strong play-of-color. Some beads are fiery, while others have more of a subtle glow. Beads are translucent with no major dark inclusions. Details: Stone: Natural Ethiopian Opal (See Gem Geek Notes for More) Size: 4.5mm - 5mm Shape: Rondelle Features: Smooth Treatment: Dyed Bead Snob® Notes: Cord Sizing: A size 2 Griffin will go through all beads. On Knotting: If this is newer to you, I can't over stress the importance of pre-stretching your silk. It can stretch a LOT. I usually pre-stretch while it's damp *and* use my next bead to push my knot into place. Even after that, if I do a gentle tug, there's still some stretch. Gauged Wire: Plan to use a 26 or 28 gauge. Gem Geek Notes: These are natural opal that have been dyed to create the intense purple body color. Ethiopian Opals may be Hydrophane. This means that this type of opal *may* gain and lose water easily, making it more susceptible to damage from water, chemicals, extreme temperatures and/or humidity. Opal Is A Soft Stone. It is more likely to be scratched or broken than most other stones we use. Please be aware of how you store your beads and finished piece and with what. If you're not sure of best practices for care and keeping, shoot me a message. Your beads/findings will come packaged neatly in a sealed plastic bag. Small items will be tucked into a reusable organza pouch and fragile items protected in a box. All beads/findings are placed in a bubble mailer for protection while in transit! Once you receive your supplies, please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns! We love to hear from you and we are known for our customer service after the sale!
