"Are you sure you've got this?"
"Of course! The day Jand cannot splice an Imperial warehouse is the day Jand retires."
―Sana Starros and Jand[1]

Jand was a Weequay criminal who operated during the Imperial Era.[1] Between 3 ABY and 4 ABY,[3] Jand worked with the smuggler Sana Starros, and led her to an Imperial warehouse on E'ronoh, informing Starros it contained something rare and valuable. When they arrived, Starros discovered that the warehouse contained po'acksters, rare and highly sought-after creatures which produced pink milk. Starros dismissed the idea of dealing in livestock and traveled back to their ship. Jand arrived later and the two traveled to the Starros family homestead on Hosnian Prime and Starros parted ways with Jand. The Weequay tried to persuade Starros to take a new job with him, claiming he had a lead on Gherlian fur, which Starros again dismissed, telling Jand he was on his own. Jand then asked Starros if she was sure she didn't need help, adding that he could at least slice the door lock to the compound, to which Starros replied that she was good.[1]

At Deva Lompop's request, Sana contacted Jand and met him at Wild Wollina's Animal Adventures on Hon-Tallos. The Weequay introduced themselves to Mevera Starros.[4]

Jand was to assist the Starroses in rescuing their family members above Hynestia but was otherwise engaged. He sent Hondo Ohnaka in his place.[2]

  3. The events of Star Wars: Sana Starros take place between those of issue 31 and issue 38 of the 2020 Star Wars: Doctor Aphra comic-book series. Issue 31 is also set after Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters crossover event, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 3 ABY, while issue 38 is a part of the Star Wars: Dark Droids crossover event, which is followed by the events of issue 43 of the 2020 Star Wars series. Furthermore, the flashbacks of issue 50 of the Star Wars series—which follow the events of issue 43—take place approximately twenty-two years after Sheev Palpatine's ascension to the title of Galactic Emperor. Since Timelines dates that event to 19 BBY, the flashbacks must occur around 3 ABY and the events of Sana Starros must therefore also take place around the latter year.
