- "We make a stand?"
"Do you trust me?"
"Of course. What are you up to?"
"No time to explain. Do you trust me?"
"Yes." - ―Cal Kestis and Merrin, before kissing and utilizing Merrin's magick portals to take down a Trident-class assault ship
In 9 BBY,[2] Jedi Knight Cal Kestis and the Nightsister Merrin undertook a mission to Pilgrim's Sanctuary on the moon Jedha in order to rescue Armias, a Narkis Anchorite. The two were sent by Jedi Masters Cere Junda and Eno Cordova of the Hidden Path—a network that smuggled Jedi and Force-sensitives—who wished to prevent Hidden Path contact codes that Armias possessed to fall into the hands of Galactic Empire forces excavating Pilgrim's Sanctuary, fearing it could jeopardize the entire network. From The Archive, Kestis and Merrin rode a spamel to the Sanctuary, though encountered Imperial forces on the way. When they spotted more Imperial forces arriving, the two split up, Merrin going to stall the Empire while Kestis snuck into the Sanctuary. They met up again to take down a DT-series sentry droid, before Kestis headed into the Singing Ruins, where he had a vision of a past conversation with Junda, helping him gain the confidence to navigate Jedha's winds.[1]
Kestis and Merrin then witnessed a massive Trident-class assault ship begin to drill into the Sanctuary and Merrin once again left to distract the Empire while Kestis pressed on. After finally entering the temple, Kestis began to search for Armias. He eventually discovered through his psychometry that Armias sacrificed himself to make sure the others could escape and the Empire could not follow. Kestis then found Armias, who gave him the contact codes before being crushed to death by the massive assault ship. As the ceiling caved in, Merrin arrived and helped Kestis hold up the debris with the Force. She then gave him a magick charm that allowed him to pass through some laser gates.[1]
Determined to make Armias's death not be in vain, Kestis and Merrin resolved to get the codes back to Junda. After ending up at a dead end, Merrin and Kestis shared a kiss before Merrin began creating portals to help Kestis navigate the rapidly deteriorating temple. They then came together to use the Force and send pieces of the ship's arm down its mouth-like drill, destroying it completely. Using one final portal, Kestis and Merrin fled from danger. They then navigated the Jedha landscape and brought the codes back to Junda's base.[1]

Additionally, Star Wars Encyclopedia: The Comprehensive Guide to the Star Wars Galaxy dates the raid on the Archive and the rest of the game to "shortly after" the events of Obi-Wan Kenobi — "Part VI", which Timelines dates to 9 BBY. As such, Jedi: Survivor must occur in 9 BBY as well.
