Vape was the personal R2 unit of New Republic pilot/commando Garik 'Face' Loran. Early into Loran's tenure in Wraith Squadron he persuaded Cubber Daine, the squadron mechanic, to make some modifications to the droid. In addition to having his red paint job updated to the unit's gray coloring, the droid, with the command "cold one", dispensed bottles of chilled Ebla beer.
