Xenoarborists were specialists that studied trees. During the last decades of the Galactic Republic,[1] which dissolved in 19 BBY,[2] xenoarborists were consulted by entrepreneur Meysen Kayson after he discovered a species of greel tree on Pii III and Pii IV, the third and fourth planet respectively in the Pii system, which led to the discovery of the tree's rapid growth rate.[1] By 25 ABY,[2] xenoarborists theorized that decades ago the senoti tree, native to the planet New Canistel in the Borderlands, was introduced to the forest moon Endor by one of two Canistel AgriStar freighters lost in the Moddell sector.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
Xenoarborists were first mentioned in "The Greel Wood Haven," an article featured in the sixth issue of Star Wars Adventure Journal, a roleplaying magazine that was published by West End Games in May of 1995 for their Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[1] The word "xenoarborist" is a combination of the prefix "xeno-," meaning alien,[4] and "arborist," denoting a specialist in the cultivation and care of trees.[5]
