When you've completed your Performance Max project and prepared it for export, you can export the assets it contains to the asset library of a linked Google Ads account.
Before you get started
- Make sure the Google Ads account you want to export to is linked to your account.
- Make sure to click "Prepare for export" if the project is still in draft.
Export a Performance Max project from Ads Creative Studio
To export projects, you need either edit or admin access level for your account.
- Sign in to Ads Creative Studio.
- Open the completed Performance Max project you want to export.
- Click Export.
- Select the linked advertiser you want to export to.
- Click Export. The project's status changes to "Exported". The assets in the project will be copied to the root folder of the asset library in the linked Google Ads account.
During import, Google Ads makes copies of your assets. Any changes you make to the project or assets in Ads Creative Studio afterward will not affect the copies in Google Ads. You can export the project again to send updated assets.
Edit an exported project
You can make changes to a project you've already exported, then export the updated assets to Google Ads.
- Sign in to Ads Creative Studio.
- Open the exported Performance Max project you want to edit.
- Click Edit. The project's status will change to "Draft".
- Make changes to the project, then click Save.
- Click Prepare for export. The project's status will change to "Completed".
- Repeat the export steps.
Note: If the same text or image asset is used in multiple exports to the same Google Ads account, additional copies will not be created in the Google Ads asset library. Video assets that are still in draft in the Google Ads asset library will be duplicated.
Next steps
A notification that new assets have been added to the asset library will appear in the Google Ads account, and users of the Google Ads account can view the imported assets.
Videos will be imported into the Google Ads asset library as drafts. Your Google Ads account contact can upload video drafts to YouTube directly from Google Ads, after which the videos can be used along with any other assets in a Performance Max campaign.
