[GA4] Missing Google Ads data in Google Analytics 4 property

Troubleshooting steps for when you have linked Google Ads and Google Analytics 4 but don't see Ads data in Analytics

After you link your Google Ads account to your Google Analytics 4 property, Google Ads data should be available in Analytics within 48 hours. Google Ads data is visible in the following reports:

If you see no Ads data in your Analytics reports, check for these common causes.

Causes:

Google Ads account and Analytics property are not linked

Your Google Analytics 4 property must be linked to your Google Ads account to see Google Ads data in Analytics. You can check and fix the link from either Analytics or Google Ads. If you create the link from Analytics, it should also be visible in Ads, and vice versa.

Check in Analytics if your Google Ads account is linked

  1. In Admin, under Product links, click Google Ads links.
Note: The previous link opens to the last Analytics property you accessed. You can change the property using the property selector. You must be a Viewer or above at the property level to check if your Google Ads account is linked.
  2. Check if your Google Ads account is listed. If your Google Ads account is not listed, follow the instructions to link Google Ads and Analytics.

Check in Google Ads if your Analytics property is linked

  1. Sign in to your Google Ads account.
  2. Click the tools icon Google Ads | tools [Icon] in the upper right corner of your account.
  3. Under Setup, click Linked accounts.
  4. Under Your linked accounts and products, find Google Analytics (GA4) and Firebase, then click Manage & link.
  5. In the Property column, find your Analytics property and check the Status column.
  6. If the status is Not linked follow the instructions to link Google Ads and Analytics.

It's been less than 48 hours since you linked Google Ads

It can take 48 hours for Google Ads data to appear in Analytics. To learn when the Google Ads link was created:

  1. In Admin, under Product links, click Google Ads links.
Note: The previous link opens to the last Analytics property you accessed. You can change the property using the property selector. You must be a Viewer or above at the property level to learn when the Google Ads link was created.
  2. In the list of linked accounts, click the arrow at the end of the row for the one you want to check.
  3. Under Completed link details, find the Date linked column and check if it has been at least 48 hours.

Auto-tagging is not enabled

Auto-tagging automatically imports Google Ads data into Analytics. Combining Google Ads data with information provided by Analytics allows you to see what happened on your site after people clicked your ads.

Check if auto-tagging is enabled and learn how to enable it.

Google Ads GCLID parameter lost in redirects

To test whether the GCLID parameter remains attached to your Google Ads final URLs:

  1. Sign in to your Google Ads account.
  2. In the page menu on the left, click Landing pages.
  3. Copy the URL from the table and paste it in your browser, but do not load the page.
  4. Attach the test parameter ?gclid=TesTER-123 to the URL and press Enter.
  5. Check if the page loads successfully and the test parameter ?gclid=TesTER-123 remains in the URL in its original form with all symbols and capitalization unchanged.

If the page doesn't load or the test parameter is changed or removed, you may need to change your website setting or use manual tagging. To learn more about your options, go to Tag your Google Ads final URLs and check the "Special case" heading.
