Automated third-party verification allows you to connect to third-party verification and viewability measurement providers directly from Campaign Manager 360.
How does it work
Before automated third-party verification, you would first set up placement tags in Campaign Manager 360. Then you would send the placement tags to your measurement partner to add extra code, known as tag wrapping. When you send a wrapped tag to a publisher, the third-party provider determines if a potential impression meets your brand requirements and blocks the impression from serving if it doesn’t. The same process is used for viewability measurement.
By linking a third-party measurement provider to Campaign Manager 360, you no longer have manually wrap tags. Campaign Manager 360 automatically generates a placement tag with the code from your measurement provider.
Third-party measurement providers
Currently, the following providers work with automated third-party verification:
Before you get started
To set up automated third-party verification, you’ll need to work with your third-party measurement provider. The provider may need to make some configuration changes on their end to enable this feature.
There are two unique IDs you’ll need from your third-party measurement partner:
- Partner advertiser ID: A unique identifier for your Campaign Manager 360 advertiser.
- Partner campaign ID: A unique identifier for your campaign.
You’ll need these unique IDs for the steps below.
Link a measurement provider to your advertiser
- Click All Advertisers in the left menu from the account level and select an advertiser to edit.
- On the Properties tab, scroll to the Third-party measurement section.
- Set the Tag wrapping toggle to On.
- Select the name of your third-party measurement provider.
- Enter the identifier for the third-party provider.
- If you use Integral Ad Science, enter the team ID or API key.
- If you use DoubleVerify, enter the partner advertiser ID. (Optional) Check Automatically link and apply default settings to all new campaigns. If enabled, these settings will automatically populate when you create a new campaign.
To unlink a third-party measurement partner, set the Tag wrapping toggle to Off. Requests to unlink will take effect after two business days, and you may continue to wrap eligible placements during this time. Once complete, all campaigns and placements under this advertiser will be unlinked from the measurement partner. - Save your advertiser.
Enable automated third-party verification for a campaign
Once you’ve linked a measurement provider to your Campaign Manager 360 advertiser, you can enable third-party measurement for specific campaigns.
- Click All Campaigns in the left menu from the account level and select a campaign to edit.
- On the Properties tab, scroll to the "Third-party measurement" section.
- Set the Tag wrapping toggle to On.
To unlink a third-party measurement partner, set the Tag wrapping toggle to Off. Requests to unlink will take effect after two business days, and you may continue to wrap eligible placements during this time. Once complete, all placements under this campaign will be unlinked from the measurement partner.
- Check the box that you agree to the consent statement for placements that are synced to Display & Video 360.
- Save your campaign.
Update placement-level settings
You can update placement-level settings for automated third-party verification.
To update settings for an individual placement:
- Navigate to your placement and scroll to the "Third-party measurement" section.
- Toggle the tag wrapping option ON or OFF.
When tag wrapping is turned on, you’ll see the URL of the tag for this placement from your third-party partner. This is for your information only and shouldn’t be sent to a publisher
- Update the measurement mode for your placement. Note that the settings for display and video placements are different.
- (For video placements only) Update the tag type for your placement.
- Save the placement.
To update settings for multiple placements:
- Use the Edit multiple option.
For tag wrapping to work properly, the “Ad serving platform field has to be accurate. To update the “Ad serving platform” field for a placement:
- Navigate to your placement and scroll to the "Third-party measurement" section.
- For the field "Ad serving platform" field, click the dropdown to select the platform where the placement is served.
- Save the placement.
If some placements share the same ad serving platform, you can set a default at the site-level. To update settings for a site:
- Under Admin in the left menu, click Sites.
- Click on the site you want to update.
- Click on Settings to expand that section.
- For the "Ad serving platform" field, click the dropdown to select the platform where the placement is served.
- Save the placement.
About measurement modes
Note that not all modes are available for some publishers or placements. In this case, you'll only see the available options in your Third-party measurement settings for that placement.
Display placements
For display placements, the third-party measurement partners have the following measurement modes:
- Blocking: Ads are blocked from serving based on your settings for the measurement vendor.
- Monitoring: Ads are only monitored for verification measurement. No ads are blocked in this mode.
Video placements
For video placements, the third-party measurement partners have the following measurement modes:
- Monitoring: Ads are only monitored for verification measurement. No ads are blocked in this mode.
- Monitoring and Blocking: Ads are monitored and blocked from serving based on your settings for the measurement partner.
- Monitoring and Filtering: Ads are filtered and monitored for verification measurement. No ads are blocked in this mode.
- Monitoring, Blocking and Filtering: Ads are monitored, filtered, and blocked from serving based on your settings for the measurement partner.
The available measurement modes depends on the placement’s tag type:
- OMNI: Supports all measurement modes.
- Non-VPAID: Supports “Monitoring” and “Monitoring and Filtering” modes.
- VPAID Only: Supports all measurement modes.
To see which measurement modes your placements use:
- Go to your campaign’s views menu.
- Select the Tag wrapping mode option.
- Click Save, or Save as to name the view.
System updates to placement settings
Your third-party measurement provider may update the placement settings. For example, if a placement uses an unsupported measurement mode.
The Change log shows all updates to placement settings. If you’re not sure why something was changed, contact your third-partner measurement provider for help.
Download and QA placement tags
Follow the regular steps to download or send placement tags. You’ll see the following update to your tags:
- Third-party vendor tracking tag column for tracking ads: There’s a separate tag type for tracking ads that use automated third-party verification.
- All other tag types: Tags include the code that enables third-party verification and measurement.
QA pre-fetch tags
If a publisher needs to QA the video files in the VAST tag (XML) when you wrap a video tag using the automated third-party verification feature in Campaign Manager 360, follow the instructions below.
Video tags
The Campaign Manager 360 tag download sheet will only render the IAS VAST wrapper and the Google Campaign Manager 360 tracking events. You won't directly see the media files within the VAST XML. However, if you need to check the media files within the VAST XML, follow the instructions below.
If you have opted in to CM360 Verification, view the media files within the VAST XML <AdParemeter>
node:
- Open the VAST URL from the tag download spreadsheet.
- Within the
<AdParameters>
node, search forVASTAdTagURI
. - Copy the URL starting after “

Syncing placements to Display & Video 360
Any placements with automated third-party verification enabled that are synced to Display & Video 360 will sync as wrapped creatives. No additional steps are needed in Display & Video 360 to enable third-party verification.
Any changes made to the placement's third-party measurement settings will be synced to Display & Video 360.
Reporting for automated third-party verification
You can include the Vendor Blocked Ads metric in your Campaign Manager 360 reports to see the number of ads your third-party provider has blocked.
For example, if a placement had 10,000 impression attempts and 2,000 were blocked by your third-party provider, you’ll see:
- Impressions: 8,000
- Vendor Blocked Ads: 2,000
For display impressions bought through Display & Video 360, the Impressions metric in Display & Video 360 will show total impression attempts.
Limitations
- Custom creatives that use automated third-party verification are rendered in a same-origin iframe that’s the size of the placement. You may need to update the HTML code of the creative for it to render correctly in the iframe.
- In-stream audio placements aren't supported for automated third-party verification with Integral Ad Science or DoubleVerify.
