Use Smart Compose in Google Chat

With Smart Compose, powered by machine learning, you can write messages faster. Smart Compose offers suggestions as you enter text.

Important:

• Smart Compose is available in English, Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese. Smart Compose is not designed to provide answers and may not always predict factually correct information.
• To use Smart Compose, you must turn on smart features and controls. Learn more about Smart features & controls in Google products.

Use Smart Compose in Chat

1. On your computer, go to Google Chat.
2. At the top right, click Settings .
3. Under “Smart Compose,” check the box next to "Enable predictive writing suggestions as you compose a message on web and desktop.”

Use Smart Compose in Chat for Gmail

1. On your computer, go to Gmail.
2. At the top right, click Settings See all settings.
3. At the top, click Chat and Meet Manage chat settings.
4. Under “Smart Compose,” check the box next to "Enable predictive writing suggestions as you compose a message on web and desktop.”

Tip: To accept a suggestion, on your keyboard, press Tab.

As language understanding models use billions of common phrases and sentences to automatically learn about the world, they can also reflect human cognitive biases.
