Cast media from Chrome to your Google Nest speaker or display

When you play media in the Google Chrome browser on your PC, you can cast it to your Google Nest or Home speaker or display. This feature lets your speaker or display play music, audiobooks, or other media from services that aren't supported in the Google Home app.

To cast content to your speaker or display:

Option 1: From the Cast button
  1. If you haven't already, pin the Cast button to your Chrome toolbar.
  2. In your Chrome browser, open a website with the media you want to play.
  3. Click the Cast button Inactive cast extension .
  4. Choose the speaker or display you want to use.
  5. Start the media on the website. It'll play on your selected speaker or display.
Option 2: From a Chromecast-enabled site
  1. In your Chrome browser, open a Cast-enabled site.
  2. Click the Cast button Inactive cast extension . You can usually find it near other media controls, like play, pause, and volume.
  3. Choose the speaker or display you want to use.
  4. Start the media on the website. It'll play on your selected speaker or display.
Option 3: From the Chrome Settings menu
  1. In your Chrome browser, open a website with the media you want to play.
  2. Click More More menu and then Save and Share and then Cast....
  3. Choose the speaker or display you want to use.
  4. Start the media on the website. It'll play on your selected speaker or display.
Option 4: From a webpage in Chrome
  1. In your Chrome browser, open a website with the media you want to play.
  2. Right-click the webpage and then Cast....
  3. Choose the speaker or display you want to use.
  4. Start the media on the website. It'll play on your selected speaker or display.

Control media playing from Chrome

To control the content you're casting, use the media controls on the webpage in Chrome. Available media controls like pause, resume, control volume, and more may vary based on the provider or the type of media.

You can also use voice commands to control the volume and stop casting.

Note: Most voice commands for media aren't supported when you cast content from Chrome to a speaker or display. For more information, check Control Google Nest or Home devices by voice.
To do this: Say "Ok Google" or "Hey Google," then:
Stop playing Chrome content on your speaker or display "Stop"
Control volume "Turn it up"
"Turn it down"
"Max volume"
