Find & invite contacts

You can find a person to call through Duo if they're in your contacts. If they're not in your contacts but they use Duo, you can add them. If you use Duo on another device with the same Google Account, your contacts will sync across devices.

Before you begin

Sync your contacts so they appear in Google Duo. You can turn this off at any time.

  1. On your device, open Settings.
  2. Search for Duo.
  3. Turn Contact permissions on or off.

Tip: You can also remove access to your Google Account contacts. If you remove your account, you won't be able to use certain features like using Google Duo on multiple devices.

Find contacts

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open Duo.
  2. At the top, tap the search box to see your contact list.
  3. Enter their name or phone number in the search box.

If you don't see a contact you're looking for, first check the following:

Invite someone to Google Duo

  2. At the top, tap the search box to see your contact list.
  3. Look for the contact you want to invite and tap Invite.
  4. Your default SMS app will open with a pre-loaded invitation message. Tap Send.

The recipient will get the message and can then download the app or reply directly to the notification.
