About your personal information in Classroom by your role

When you join Classroom, some information about you is always visible to other members of your class. The personal details that you can find in Classroom depend on your role and the actions taken by teachers and Google Workspace or domain administrators.

What personal information can people find?

  • Teachers in your classes can find your name, photo, and email address.
  • When they visit a class, education leaders such as principals and department heads can find your name, photo, and email address.
  • Other students in your classes can find your name and photo.
  • If your Google Workspace admin turned on contact sharing, your classmates can find your email address
  • Guardians connected to your account can find your name and photo.
  • Workspace admins can find your name, photo, and email address.
Teacher
  • Workspace admins can find your name, photo, and email address.
  • Co-teachers in your classes can find your name, photo, and email address.
  • When they visit a class, education leaders such as principals and department heads can find your name, photo, and email address.
  • Students in your classes can find your name and photo.
  • Guardians connected to your students can find your name.
  • People you invite to join your class can find your name and email address in the invitation.
  • If your Google Workspace admin turned on contact sharing, students can find your email address in other Google services, such as Google Docs and Gmail.
  • If you give third-party applications access to Classroom data, the third party might find contact information.
Guardian linked to a student (Google Workspace for Education only)
  • Teachers and co-teachers who teach your student can find your name and email address.
  • When they visit a class, education leaders such as principals and department heads can find your name and email address.
  • Your student can find your name.
  • Workspace admins have access to your name, photo, and email address.
Education leaders
  • When you choose reasons for your visit, the primary teacher receives an email with your name, photo, and email address.
  • If you post, comment, or reply while you visit a class:
    • Workspace admins, teachers, and co-teachers can find your name, photo, and email address both during and after your visit.
    • Students in the class can find your name and photo both during and after your visit.
    • Parents and guardians can find your name both during and after your visit.
  • When you invite people to join a class, the invitation displays your name and email address.
  • If your Workspace admin turns on contact sharing, students can find your email address in other Google services, such as Google Docs and Gmail.
  • If you give third-party apps access to Classroom data, the third party might have access to your contact information.
