What the LED lights mean

The following tables provide detailed information about the possible appearances of the LED lights on each device, the possible causes of each state, and what you should do, if anything, in each situation.

Tip: Ensure your Fiber Jack is connected to the network and the LED lights are connected and working properly before moving on to troubleshoot your router. Likewise, your router will have to be connected and working properly before you can troubleshoot your other Google Fiber devices.
Fiber Jack

Models GFLT100, GFLT110, & GFLT300 (1 Light)

Light Status Cause Action
Solid red Powering up or trying to connect to the network. Wait for the process to complete. If the LED doesn't advance to solid blue within 2 minutes, power cycle the device.
Blinking red Connecting to the network. Wait for the process to complete. If the LED doesn't advance to solid blue within 2 minutes, powercycle the device.
Blinking blue Upgrading device firmware. Wait for the process to complete. Your service will continue to work during this time, but there may be a brief outage when the device restarts to complete the upgrade. (Firmware updates are usually scheduled in the middle of the night.)
Solid blue The device is connected to the network and online. No action required.
No light No power. If the device is fitted with a power cable, check the cable and the outlet to be sure it has power. If the device has no power cable, check the Ethernet cable connections and power to the Network Box.

 

Model GFLT132GOGP220C, & GOGP222C (4 Lights)

Power LED:

Light Status Cause Action
Solid green Powered on. No action required.
No light Power off. Disconnect the power source from the wall. Then, disconnect the Ethernet cord from the device to which your Fiber Jack is connected. Wait 30 seconds, and plug the Ethernet cord back in. Then reconnect your Fiber Jack to the power source. Wait three minutes for the Fiber Jack to fully reboot.


Alarm LED:

Light Status Cause Action
No light No issues detected. No action required.
Red light Loss of signal. Disconnect the power source from the wall. Then, disconnect the Ethernet cord from the device to which your Fiber Jack is connected. Wait 30 seconds, and plug the Ethernet cord back in. Then reconnect your Fiber Jack to the power source. Wait three minutes for the Fiber Jack to fully reboot.


Optical LED:

Light Status Cause Action
Blinking green Starting up. No action required.
Solid green Successfully connected and authenticated. No action required.
No light or will not stop blinking green No optical connection or Fiber Jack is ranged but not authenticated. Disconnect the power source from the wall. Then, disconnect the Ethernet cord from the device to which your Fiber Jack is connected. Wait 30 seconds, and plug the Ethernet cord back in. Then reconnect your Fiber Jack to the power source. Wait three minutes for the Fiber Jack to fully reboot.


Network LED:

Light Status Cause Action
Blinking green Traffic is passing successfully. No action required.
Solid green A device is connected but not passing traffic. Disconnect the power source from the wall. Then, disconnect the Ethernet cord from the device to which your Fiber Jack is connected. Wait 30 seconds, and plug the Ethernet cord back in. Then reconnect your Fiber Jack to the power source. Wait three minutes for the Fiber Jack to fully reboot.
No light LAN Port is not connected to a device.

Make sure that the Ethernet cable is securely connected.

Network Box
Confirm that your Fiber Jack is solid blue before moving on to this step.
Light Status Cause Action
Solid red or purple Powering up. Normal for a several seconds during power-up. If the LED does not advance to solid blue within 2 minutes, power cycle the device. If either the red or purple LED remain solid for an extended period, contact GFiber customer support.
Blinking red Disconnected from the network. If the LED does not advance to solid blue within 2 minutes, check to make sure the Ethernet cable between the Network Box and Fiber Jack is connected.
Slow blinking blue (1 second on, 500ms off) Connecting to the network or upgrading device firmware. Wait for the process to complete. If the LED does not advance to solid blue within 2 minutes, check that the Fiber Jack has a solid blue LED.
Fast blinking blue (500ms on, 500ms off) Connected to the network but unable to reach Google Fiber servers. Wait for the process to complete. If the LED does not advance to solid blue within 2 minutes, power cycle the Network Box. If the Network Box continues to blink quickly,  contact Google Fiber customer support.
Solid blue The device is connected to the network and online. No action required.
No light No power. Check the power cord and the outlet to be sure it has power.
Google Fiber Phone Box

When the Phone Box is properly connected, the LED on the front displays solid blue. If the LED does not display solid blue 2-3 minutes after being connected to power, contact GFiber customer support.

Your Fiber Jack and Network Box LED lights will need to be displaying solid blue before moving on to this step.
LED Status Cause Action
Solid red Powering up or hardware failure. Powering your Phone Box may take up to 2 minutes, after which the LED should advance to solid blue. If the LED remains solid red after 2-3 minutes, contact GFiber customer support.
Blinking red Attempting to connect to the network. Normal for several seconds. If the LED does not advance to solid blue within 2-3 minutes, the device is unable to connect to the network; contact GFiber customer support.
Blinking blue  Connecting to the network. Normal for up to 2 minutes. If the LED does not advance to solid blue within 2-3 minutes, the device is unable to connect to the network; contact GFiber customer support.
Fast blinking blue  Connected to the network but unable to reach Google Fiber servers. If the LED does not advance to solid blue within 2 minutes, check the cables to be sure they are properly connected, and that the Network Box LED displays solid blue.
Solid blue Successful connection. No action required.
No light No power. Check the power cord and the outlet to be sure it has power.
Storage Box
Your Fiber Jack and Network Box LED lights will need to be displaying solid blue before moving on to this step.
LED Status Cause Action
Solid red or purple Powering up. Normal for up to several seconds during power-up. If the LED does not advance to solid blue within two minutes, contact GFiber customer support.
Blinking red Disconnected from the network. Normal for several seconds. If the LED does not advance to solid blue within two minutes, check the cables to make sure they are properly connected, and that the Network Box LED displays solid blue.
Slow blinking blue (1 second on, 500ms off) Connecting to the network or upgrading device firmware. Wait for the process to complete. If the LED does not advance to solid blue within two minutes, check the cables to be sure they are properly connected, and that the Network Box LED displays solid blue.

No light No power. Check the power cord connection and that the outlet has power.

The Storage Box has two LEDs on either side of the Ethernet port on the back panel. The following table lists the colors and behaviors of those LEDs.

LED Location LED Status Meaning
Right side Blinking orange Information is flowing; speed is 1000Mbps.
Right side Blinking green Information is flowing; speed is 100Mbps.
Left side Solid orange Successful network connection.
