You can conduct in-depth and real-time research on almost any subject with the Gemini web app.
What you need
Deep research is currently only available:
- In the Gemini web app
- In English
- For users with Gemini Advanced. Learn how to upgrade to Gemini Advanced.
Important: We’re gradually releasing this feature to users, so it may not be available to you just yet.
Use deep research
- Go to gemini.google.com.
- At the top, click Gemini or Gemini Advanced 1.5 Pro with Deep Research.
- In the text box at the bottom, enter a question or prompt that explains what you want to research.
- Click Submit Start research
- Gemini creates a research plan for your topic.
- To update the research plan before you create a report, click Edit plan.
- When your report is ready, click View report.
Tips:
- It usually takes about 5-10 minutes to generate the report since Gemini analyzes many sources. For more complex reports, it may take longer.
- While you wait for the report, you can leave the chat. When it’s ready, a notification will pop up next to the chat thread with your completed report.
Find your research reports
Important: You can only find past research reports if your Gemini Apps Activity is on. Learn how to Learn how to manage Gemini Apps activity.
- Go to gemini.google.com.
- If your chats are hidden, at the top, click Menu .
- Under “Recent,” find your research chat.
Research limits
In Gemini Apps, there are limits for:
- Daily research requests
- Number of research requests you can run at the same time
If you’re close to your limit, Gemini Apps notifies you how many research requests are left for the day.
