This is a payment setting in which you pay for your advertising costs before your ads run. Then, as your ads run, your costs are deducted from the payment you've made.
- We can notify you by email when your account balance starts to get low or exhausted, but you can add funds at any time.
- The payment methods you can use to make a manual payment will depend on your currency and the location of your business address. Learn more About payment methods for Google Ads.
- If you'd rather be charged automatically after your ads run, you can use the Automatic payments setting.
You may be able to switch the payment setting for your account between Automatic and Manual payments, and vice versa, in your account’s Billing Settings. The option to switch from Automatic to Manual payments is possible only in countries where the Manual payments option is available. If you are currently on Manual payments and this option is no longer available in your country, you can only switch to Automatic payments and you won't be able to switch back to Manual payments.
To change your payment setting:
- In your Google Ads account, click the Billing icon, then select Settings.
- Open the “How you pay” section, then click to open Alternative payment options to view other options available to you.
- Click Switch to automatic and follow the steps in the pop-up window to confirm the change.
- Note: This feature might not be available in all Google Ads accounts.
To check the user access level:
- In your Google Ads account, click the Billing icon .
- Click Settings.
- Open the Payments users section, then click on the name to view access level of the user.
Confirm country availability for Manual payments
Some countries and territories don't support Manual payments for new accounts. If you’re in one of these areas, you won't be able to select the Manual payments option when creating your account.
In this case, choose Automatic Payments to complete your account setup.Countries and territories where manual payments are not available
