Adaptive Comfort and Adaptive Eco

Adaptive Comfort and Adaptive Eco work to keep you comfortable by adjusting your preset temperatures.

Note: These features are only available for Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen).

Adaptive Comfort

Adaptive comfort provides just the right amount of additional heating or cooling to give your home a consistent feel across changing weather conditions. It adjusts your Comfort temperature based on indoor humidity, forecasted weather, and what we can model about the characteristics of your home. For example, if it’s a particularly humid day, Adaptive Comfort might lower the temperature of your home slightly to keep you comfortable.

Note: Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) has a humidity sensor built in to the thermostat in order to measure your home’s indoor humidity.

To adjust Adaptive Comfort:

  1. Open the Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Favorites or Devices .
  3. Choose your thermostat tap Settings and thenTemperature preferences.
  4. In the Nest Sense section, tap Adaptive Comfort and Eco .
  5. Tap the switch next to Adaptive Comfort.

Adaptive Eco

Adaptive Eco moderates your Eco Temperature based on the weather conditions so that whenever you’re away from home your thermostat will keep the temperature in your home within one hour of your Comfort temperature. For example,if your Eco Temperature for heating is 50ºF, and your comfort temperature is 70ºF and it’s very cold outside, Adaptive Eco might only let your home’s temperature drop to 60ºF so that it can easily return to 70ºF within one hour of getting home.

Adaptive Eco turns on when:

  • Your thermostat switches to Eco Temperatures
  • The Adaptive Eco setting is enabled

Note: In order for Adaptive Eco to keep the temperature in your home within one hour of your comfort temperature, your HVAC will turn on when you’re away from home. To ensure that your home always reaches your defined Eco temperature when you're away, you can disable Adaptive Eco and leave Eco Temperatures on.

To adjust Adaptive Eco:

  1.  Open the Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Favorites or Devices .
  3. Choose your thermostat tap Settings Temperature preferences.
  4. In the Nest Sense section, tap Adaptive Comfort and Eco .
  5. Tap the switch next to Adaptive Eco.
