Set up Ventilation on your Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen)

Keep the air in your home fresh by bringing in air from outside.

Set up Smart Ventilation

Smart Ventilation uses outdoor temperature, air quality, and more to determine the best times and amount of ventilation for your home. If the outdoor air quality is poor, or the temperature is too hot or cold for your target indoor temperature, Smart Ventilation pauses your ventilation system.

Note: This feature is only available if you have a ventilation system and have correctly configured it for ventilation. If you don’t have a ventilation system, you will not see this option available in Settings.
  1. Open the Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Favorites or Devices .
  3. Tap your thermostat and then Settings and then Ventilation .
  4. Switch Enable ventilation to On.
  5. Switch Smart Ventilation to On.

Ventilation settings

To adjust your ventilation settings:

  1. Open the Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Favorites or Devices .
  3. Tap your thermostat and then Settings and then Ventilation .

You can choose from the following options in the settings menu to set up your ventilation:

  • Enable or disable ventilation
  • Set up Smart Ventilation
  • Change the daily required hours of ventilation
  • Choose the type of ventilation system your house uses
  • Switch to heat or cool your home with outside air by prioritizing ventilation at optimal times
  • Choose whether your ventilation system requires the fan to be activated
