The Home or Nest app can give you basic information about your thermostat such as the model, serial number, software version, and other details.
Use your thermostat to check more detailed information that may not available in the app.

- Tap Favorites or Devices
- Tap your thermostat Settings Device information.

Room | The room in your home that your thermostat has been assigned to (such as kitchen or hallway) |
Model | The model of your thermostat |
Device ID | Your thermostat display's unique ID number (available only on certain thermostats) |
Serial no. | A unique identifier located at the back of your thermostat’s display. |
Software version | The software version currently installed on your thermostat Nest thermostat software update history |
Wi-Fi MAC | The unique network ID assigned to your thermostat hardware when it was manufactured |
IP | Your thermostat’s network IP address, which is assigned by your router. You can also check the thermostat’s IP address on your Wi-Fi router’s list of connected devices. |
Battery state | Nest Thermostat only: the charge level of the replaceable AAA batteries: Unknown, OK, Low, or Very low |
Battery voltage | The current voltage of your thermostat’s internal rechargeable battery |
On your thermostat
- Press the thermostat ring to bring up the Quick View menu.
- Turn the ring to Settings and press to select.
- Turn the ring to Technical Info and press to select.

IPv4 | |
Address | This is your Nest thermostat’s network IP address, which is assigned by your router. You can also find the the thermostat’s IP address on your Wi-Fi router’s list of connected devices. |
Subnet mask | A subnet mask is used to identify the network location of an IP address. Most home networks use the default subnet mask 255.255.255.0. |
Router | This is the network IP address of the router that your Nest thermostat is connected to. |
IPv6 | |
Address | This is your thermostat’s IPV6 network address, which is used for Thread communications. |
Prefix length | Similar to an IPv4 Subnet Mask, an IPv6 Prefix length is used to identify the network section of an IPv6 address. |
Router | This is the IPv6 address of the router that your Nest thermostat is connected to. |
Name servers | This tells you the address of the Domain Name System (DNS) server and backup DNS server used by your thermostat. |
Search domains | This is used if your Nest thermostat needs to resolve an unqualified domain name. If not, it'll show "none." |
Service Environment | For most people it'll show "production." If you are participating in the Nest Field Test program, it'll show "ft." |
Last data upload | The exact date and time of your thermostat’s last automatic data upload to the Nest service. For more information, go to privacy FAQ. |
Last cloud comm | The exact date and time of your thermostat’s last communication with the Nest service. This syncs your Nest thermostat and the app so they can show you the same information. |
MAC address | This is the unique network ID assigned to your Nest thermostat’s network hardware when it was manufactured. |
Sensors
Current temp | The current ambient temperature in the room determined from the Nest thermostat’s internal sensors. The temperature is also displayed on the thermostat's temperature screen. |

Target temp | The temperature set on the Nest thermostat that the system is currently trying to heat or cool to. |
Rel. humidity | The relative humidity in the room measured by the Nest thermostat’s internal sensors. |

This shows status information about the activity and light sensors in the Nest thermostat. Note: A sensor can be working normally and show a reading of 0.
