Cancel your Google One plan if you switched to a new service

If you already have a Google One plan and want to pay for it through another company, you can directly transfer your subscription. If available, instructions on how to transfer your payment plan are provided by that company.

If direct subscription transfer isn't available before you start your new plan, you may need to delete the Google One service from your Google Account. When you delete your Google One service, you keep everything you store in Google Photos, Drive, and Gmail for at least 2 years. The only data deleted immediately is data about your Google One plan, like family sharing, other settings, and support chats.

What happens when you cancel Google One

  • You'll stop future Google One payments.
  • You and your family members will lose access to extra member benefits and Google experts via the Google One app and website.
  • You and your family members will lose access to your additional storage. Each person will keep their default 15 GB of storage at no charge.
  • You’ll lose access to premium subscriptions, like Nest Aware and Fitbit Premium.

If you cancel while you're using more than 15 GB of storage, you'll notice some restrictions. For example:

  • Gmail: You can't send or receive messages. Messages sent to you are returned to the sender.
  • Google Drive:
    • You can't sync or upload new files.
    • Syncs stop between your computer's Google Drive folder and My Drive.
    • You can’t create new files in:
      • Google Docs
      • Sheets
      • Slides
      • Drawings
      • Forms
      • Jamboard
    • Until you reduce the amount of storage you use, no one can edit or copy your files.
  • Google Photos: You can't back up any photos or videos.

Tip: To avoid these restrictions, you can clean up Google storage space. You can also buy more Google storage.

  • For Metro by T-Mobile customers (U.S. only): If your membership is sponsored by Metro by T-Mobile, it will end as soon as you cancel and you’ll lose all your benefits.
