How Google Assistant knows the conversation is continuing

When Continued Conversation is on, Google Assistant listens for follow-up questions for about 10 seconds. It uses voice and sensor signals, like speech, gyroscope, acceleration, and rotation sensors to detect if you're continuing the conversation or not.

Sensor signals are processed on your device. If we detect that the conversation is continuing, audio might be sent to Google servers to give you a response. Go to My Activity to find what data is saved.

If you have audio recordings turned on, your activity might be used to improve audio recognition technologies. If you want to change your settings, choose what to share with Google Assistant.

How Google Assistant improves its audio recognition technologies

If you have audio recordings turned on, your activity stored on Google servers might be used to improve audio recognition technologies. If you want to change your settings, choose what to share with Google Assistant.

Starting with the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, Google Assistant learns from you and gets better at recognizing the words and phrases you use often. Learn more about personalized speech recognition.
