You can change your screen's brightness, font size, display size, rotation settings, and more. You can also turn on automatic brightness and color modes like Adaptive brightness, Adaptive tone, and Night Light.

Change your Pixel Tablet’s screen brightness
- Swipe down from the top of the screen.
- Drag the Brightness slider left or right.
Check and change your Pixel Tablet’s display settings
Change brightness level
- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Display & touch.
- Tap Brightness level.
- Move the brightness slider left or right to decrease or increase your screen brightness.
- To change screen brightness from anywhere, swipe down from the top of your tablet's screen (twice in portrait mode) and move the brightness slider left or right.
Tip: To help preserve your battery's lifespan, turn down your brightness or tap Extra dim in Quick Settings.
Turn on adaptive brightness
Turn on adaptive brightness if you want your screen's brightness to change automatically based on the light around you. You can still change your brightness while this setting is on. Over time, your tablet will learn your preferences.
- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Display & touch.
- Turn on Adaptive brightness.
Customize your lock screen
- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Hub Mode Lock screen.
- Choose a setting:
- Privacy: Change what notifications appear on the lock screen.
- Show widgets on lock screen: Skip the unlock and access common controls like starting a timer, checking the weather, and more with lock screen widgets. Learn how to use lock screen widgets.
- Add users from lock screen: Add more user profiles directly from the lock screen.
- Add text on lock screen: Add a line of text to your lock screen.
- Show device controls: Show controls for external devices on the lock screen. Learn how to use the home panel.
- Use device controls: Control external devices without unlocking your tablet, if allowed by the device controls app.
- Dynamic clock: Choose whether a double-line or single-line clock is displayed on the lock screen.
- Now Playing: Quickly identify songs that play near the tablet.
- Tap to check tablet: View certain info when you tap your screen.
- Lift to check tablet: View notifications when you pick up the tablet.
- Wake screen for notifications: Your tablet’s screen wakes up when new notifications arrive.
- When work profile is locked: If you have a managed device, show or hide sensitive work content.
Change screen timeout settings
- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Display & touch Screen timeout.
- Choose how long it takes for your tablet's screen to turn off when you're not using it.
- You can also turn on Screen attention to prevent your screen from turning off while you look at it.
Use Dark theme
To turn on Dark theme:
- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Display & touch.
- Turn on Dark theme.
To use Dark theme at certain times:
- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Display & touch.
- Tap Dark theme Schedule Choose an option.
Change screen saver settings
If you have a Charging Speaker Dock, you can display photos, colorful backgrounds, and more on your screen when your tablet is locked and docked. Learn how to set up a screen saver and Photo Frame.
- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Display & touch.
- Tap Screen saver.

Change display size and text
- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Display & touch Display size and text.
- Choose a setting:
- Font size: Move the slider to make text on your screen bigger or smaller.
- Display size: Move the slider to make everything on your screen bigger or smaller.
- Bold text: Make the text bold on your screen for easier reading.
- High contrast text: Change text color to black or white to make it easier to read against vivid backgrounds.
- Reset settings: Tap to reset your icon and text settings to their default values.
Turn on Adaptive tone and colors
Adaptive tone dynamically adapts your screen's display to warmer or cooler tones based on ambient lighting.
- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Display & touch.
- Turn on Adaptive tone.
To change how colors are displayed on your tablet:
- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Display & touch Colors.
- Tap a setting to choose how colors are displayed on your tablet:
- Adaptive (default): See the most vivid colors and keep color details.
- Natural: See the most accurate colors.
Use Night Light and change Night Light intensity
Night Light tints your screen amber to make it easier to look at your screen or read in dim light.
To turn on Night Light:
- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Display & touch.
- Turn on Night Light.
To use Night Light at certain times:
- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Display & touch Night Light Schedule.
- Choose an option.
To change Night Light intensity:
- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Display & touch Night Light.
- If it's not already turned on, turn on Night Light.
- Use the slider to adjust intensity.
Turn on Auto-rotate for your screen
Turn on Auto-rotate screen to let your tablet's screen automatically rotate when you turn the tablet horizontally (landscape) or vertically (portrait).
- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Display & touch.
- Turn on Auto-rotate screen.
