Troubleshoot Assistant voice commands on Pixel Tablet

Perform the following steps if Google Assistant voice commands don't work as expected on your Pixel Tablet.

Important: To dock your Pixel Tablet or use Hub Mode, you need a Charging Speaker Dock. You can purchase the Pixel Tablet with or without a dock, or purchase a dock separately.

Use the same account for Assistant and Google Home

Make sure the Google Account you used to set up your Pixel Tablet is the same account used to set up the Charging Speaker Dock in the Google Home app Google Home app. For the best experience, we recommend that you use the same account for both.

Option 1: Change the account linked to your Charging Speaker Dock

  1. Open the Google Home App Google Home app.
  2. Tap your profile photo or initial and then switch to the account you used to add the Charging Speaker Dock to your home.
  3. Tap Settings and then remove the Pixel Tablet and Charging Speaker Dock from your home.

  4. Tap your profile photo or initial and then switch to the account used to set up your Pixel Tablet.
  5. Add the Pixel Tablet and Charging Speaker Dock to your home.

Option 2: Change your Pixel Tablet account

  1. Open your device's Settings app Settings app.
  2. Tap your profile photo or initial and then switch to the account you used to add the Charging Speaker Dock to your home in the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. Choose your Assistant in Hub Mode settings and link any media services you want to use:

Option 3: Factory reset your Pixel Tablet and Charging Speaker Dock

If the previous steps don't work, you can perform a factory reset on your tablet and dock. After the reset, use the same Google Account to set up your Pixel Tablet and add the dock to your home.

If you downloaded the Gemini mobile app and set up Gemini as your primary assistant on the Pixel Tablet and Assistant voice commands aren’t working as expected when your tablet is locked or in Hub Mode, please file feedback directly in the Gemini mobile app.
