Starting on February 14, 2025, users in South Korea will no longer have access to certain subscription capabilities, and must provide consent prior to certain scheduled billing dates to avoid automatic cancellation.
As a result of new regulations in South Korea, we are making changes effective February 14, 2025 affecting subscriptions that include a scheduled price step-up or paid subscription conversion.
- During the 14 days before the end of a free trial, users must consent to the first paid charge or their subscription will be automatically canceled.
- During the 30 days before the end of introductory discounted periods, users must consent to the first non-discounted charge or their subscription will be automatically canceled.
- On behalf of developers, we will notify users of the need to consent at the start of the consent period (or immediately after purchase if already within that period), and we may notify users in other ways. Users provide consent in the Google Play Store app.
- During a free trial, introductory discounted period, or when there are other scheduled charges at a higher price-per-day, users cannot pause the subscription, and if the subscription was paused prior to February 14, 2025 it cannot be resumed prior to the scheduled pause end date.
- Certain early access programs will be limited or unavailable in South Korea. Details will be provided separately to participating developers.
